Getting started in Hide to Steal Eggs: the hide and get carried loop
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Most steal an egg games start with a walk into an open plot. This one starts with a disguise. You hide inside an egg, use that cover to get into another player plot, and only then do you pick what to steal. This guide walks the loop in the order the game teaches it.
Step 1: Hide and get into a plot
Your entry method is the egg disguise. Hide inside an egg and move into another player plot. Treat this as scouting as much as sneaking: look at which eggs are on show, note their weight class, and work out which ones you could actually carry before you commit to a pick.
Step 2: Pick an egg you can carry
Strength decides what you can lift. Early on that means Light eggs only, and that is fine. A Light egg carried home beats a Heavy egg you cannot move. If an egg will not budge, it is not bad luck, it is the weight gate telling you to train first.
Step 3: Get the egg home
Carry the stolen egg back to your own plot. Until it is home it is not yours in any useful sense. Head straight back rather than shopping for a second egg on the same trip. One hatched egg earning on your plot is worth more than two eggs left behind in someone else plot.
Step 4: Hatch and place the pet
At home the egg hatches into a pet. That pet earns money over time while it sits on your plot. Your first hatches will be low earners, and that is normal. Their job is to fund the next stage, not to carry your whole account.
Step 5: Turn money into Strength
Spend early money on Strength training before anything else. Strength is the only spending that opens new content in this game, because each training step brings a heavier egg class within reach. Our Strength and Rebirth guide covers pacing in detail.
Step 6: Repeat one class higher
With more Strength, return for Medium eggs, then Heavy, then Massive. Each class hatches into rarer pets with stronger earning potential. Keep the best pet from each run, sell spares when your plot fills up, and let income compound between training sessions.
Beginner mistakes to avoid
First, chasing the heaviest egg in the first session. The ladder is ordered for a reason. Second, sitting on spare low tier pets while training waits. Spares are money that is not training yet. Third, believing code lists or value lists for this game. There are no codes, there is no trading, and no published pet list exists yet. Our weight ladder page explains exactly what is modelled and what is still unknown.
