Best animals in Build a Zoo: the full tier list
Best here means one thing only: income per second, the number the game itself pays. There is no trading market to price animals by. All 51 documented animals are tiered below. Sixteen stand on published figures, exact for the event animals and approximate for four core animals, and the other 35 stand on arranged estimates interpolated inside their rarity bands from the game's egg and conveyor ladder. Every row carries its basis, so an exact rate and an estimate never wear the same clothes.
S tier
The elite of the whole roster. The exact published leaders sit here: Gobbles and Leshen above $28K/s, the Divine pair Roach and Mapleantler, and the Mythical pair Cheshire and Pippin, all event animals whose events have ended. The arranged estimates put the Prismatic pool pair, the Dragon and the Orangutan, in the same band, which is where a 37.8 billion cash conveyor says they belong. If you own an S tier animal, it anchors your plot: feed it your best mutations and build the rest of the zoo around it.

A tier
Serious earners a single animal deep. Huginn and Cobbler carry exact published rates above every core animal, and the Legendary and Mythical estimates fill the tier out: the big conveyor animals like the Rhino, Dinosaur and Gorilla, estimated inside their bands. This is the tier a mid game zoo is built from, so when a tier A egg rolls past and you can afford it, it is rarely a wrong buy.

B tier
The working core. The Snake, Panda, Tiger and Fox carry the only approximate published core rates and lead this tier on paper, the Epic estimates sit alongside them, and Mavis, Lucas, Christine and Tater close out the event animals. Approximate and estimated both mean the same thing here: use this tier to plan your next purchases, not to settle arguments about exact rates.

C tier
The starter shelf: every documented animal under $1,500/s, which in practice means the Common, Uncommon and Rare animals from the cheap eggs at the bottom of the ladder. Every figure here is an arranged estimate. None of these animals carries a zoo on its own, but a full plot of them is how every zoo on this page started, and they are the animals a new player will actually hatch this week.

How to use this list
If you played the 2025 events, your best animals are already on this page: keep them, mutate them, and let them fund your conveyor climbs. If you started after the events, work the tiers from the bottom up: fill the plot with C tier animals, buy B tier eggs when they roll past, and let the conveyor ladder carry you toward the estimated A and S tier pools. Mutations multiply whatever you hatch, so they reward climbing first. The making money fast guide puts those pieces in order.

How these numbers work
Every animal name in this section is named by at least two public sources, or by a dated event guide whose hatch table a second source reproduces. Sixteen of the 51 animals carry published income figures: the 12 event animals carry exact rates from their event guides, and four core animals carry approximate rates from a single money guide, labelled approximate wherever they appear. The other 35 core animals carry arranged estimates, labelled Estimate wherever they appear: because no source publishes core rarities or a core income ladder, each estimate is built from the game's own structure, with the rarity taken from the animal's conveyor pool or its source egg's place on the published egg price ladder, and the income interpolated inside that rarity band between the published anchors, never above a published figure from a higher band. The moment a source publishes a real rate or rarity for one of these animals, the published figure replaces the estimate. Egg prices and conveyor prices are the figures two source lists agree on; where the two lists disagree, both figures are shown and the disagreement is flagged instead of averaged away. The same rule keeps the two conflicting mutation ladders on the mutations page separate. Codes follow the standard two source rule and every status is dated, because Build a Zoo codes carry redemption caps and can expire mid event.
