Making money fast in Build a Zoo

Income in Build a Zoo is a stack: animal rates at the bottom, conveyor gold boosts in the middle, mutation multipliers on top. This guide builds the stack in the order that pays back fastest, using the figures public sources publish.

1. Fill the plot before you upgrade anything

An empty plot slot earns zero, and no boost or multiplier fixes a zero. Early cash goes to eggs, any eggs, until every slot is paying. The one published class figure for regular animals is modest, around $165/s for big animals in the money guide's terms, so early income is a numbers game: more animals, more seconds paid.

2. Climb conveyors on schedule

Each conveyor tier raises your gold boost, from +40% at Uncommon through +320% at Mythical to +840% at Transcendent, and better tiers also roll better eggs past the plot. The ladder's prices are on the conveyors page. The discipline that matters is timing: a tier that costs two days of income pays for itself; a tier that costs two weeks stalls the zoo while you save for it.

3. Chase the documented earners

On published core figures, the Snake is the strongest regular animal at about $3,000/s, with the Panda, Tiger and Fox behind it at about $2,000/s each. All four figures are approximations from a single money guide, so treat them as a shortlist, not gospel: when those animals roll past on the belt, they are worth buying first. The arranged estimates on the income rankings extend the same ladder up through the late conveyor pools, so you can see what each climb is roughly worth before you pay for it.

4. Mutate your best, not your newest

Mutations multiply whatever an animal already earns, so the same 12x Jurassic mutation is worth twelve times more on your best animal than on a starter. Feed mutation foods to proven earners: Pear for Gold at 2x, Pineapple for Diamond at 3x, Gold Mango for Fire at 10x and Volt Ginkgo for Jurassic at 12x. Both published ladders, and the conflict between them, are laid out on the mutations page.

5. Never miss an event or a code

The strongest documented animals in the game came from event eggs: Gobbles at $30,978/s from Thanksgiving and Leshen at $28,704/s from Halloween. Events are temporary and their eggs stop dropping, so an active event outranks every other plan while it runs. Codes are the same lesson in miniature: they are free, they hand out eggs and currency, and their redemption caps mean late players get nothing. The codes page is dated for exactly this reason.

The honest limit

Most core animal incomes are estimates rather than published figures, so no guide can yet prove the single fastest route through the mid game. What is proven is the shape of the stack: fill the plot, climb the belt, mutate the best. That order works at every stage of the ladder.
