How to catch Monk Fish
Fish at Sisyphus Statue and keep casting: the base rate is 1 in 3,000, before luck. Rod luck, bait, potions and server events all raise your effective chance above the base rate, and a rod with enough Weight capacity matters for the heavy high rarity catches. If this fish is tied to an event area or a marked unobtainable spot in its location line, it can only be caught while that content is live.
On the official wiki, Monk Fish sits in the Epic band and is caught at Sisyphus Statue at 1 in 3,000. In plain terms, expect about 3,000 casts at base odds for an average copy with no luck bonuses running. By value it stands at rank 107 of 278, priced at 3,900 coins on this index.
Value and mutations
The 3,900 coins figure is a community estimate from the rarity ladder on the values page, where the method is written out in full. It is a plain copy at a typical weight: the same fish with a mutation sells for a multiple of its base value, from 2.2x for Stone up to 6.5x for Galaxy, and a heavy copy of a big species is worth more than a light one. In the Trading Plaza the game shows its own Recent Average Price per listing, which is the figure to compare against before you accept any trade.
