How to catch Tree Horse
Fish at Christmas Island and keep casting: the base rate is 1 in 10,000, before luck. Rod luck, bait, potions and server events all raise your effective chance above the base rate, and a rod with enough Weight capacity matters for the heavy high rarity catches. If this fish is tied to an event area or a marked unobtainable spot in its location line, it can only be caught while that content is live.
The Legendary fish Tree Horse comes from Christmas Island, where the wiki puts its base rate at 1 in 10,000. That works out at about 10,000 casts at base odds for an average copy before any luck is stacked on top. It ranks 86 of 278 on this site by value, at 17,000 coins.
Value and mutations
The 17,000 coins figure is a community estimate from the rarity ladder on the values page, where the method is written out in full. It is a plain copy at a typical weight: the same fish with a mutation sells for a multiple of its base value, from 2.2x for Stone up to 6.5x for Galaxy, and a heavy copy of a big species is worth more than a light one. In the Trading Plaza the game shows its own Recent Average Price per listing, which is the figure to compare against before you accept any trade.
