How to catch Epic Present
Fish at Christmas Island and keep casting: the base rate is 1 in 2,500, before luck. Rod luck, bait, potions and server events all raise your effective chance above the base rate, and a rod with enough Weight capacity matters for the heavy high rarity catches. If this fish is tied to an event area or a marked unobtainable spot in its location line, it can only be caught while that content is live.
The Epic fish Epic Present comes from Christmas Island, where the wiki puts its base rate at 1 in 2,500. At base odds that is about 2,500 casts at base odds, though rod luck and bait shorten the real wait. The values list puts it at 3,600 coins, rank 110 of the 278 fish documented here.

Value and mutations
The 3,600 coins figure is a community estimate from the rarity ladder on the values page, where the method is written out in full. It is a plain copy at a typical weight: the same fish with a mutation sells for a multiple of its base value, from 2.2x for Stone up to 6.5x for Galaxy, and a heavy copy of a big species is worth more than a light one. In the Trading Plaza the game shows its own Recent Average Price per listing, which is the figure to compare against before you accept any trade.
