Secret fish guide: hunting the rarest fish in Fish It!
Last updated: November 6, 2026
Secret is the second highest rarity in Fish It!, topped only by the single Forgotten fish, the Elemental Hydra, and its numbers explain why a Secret catch stops a server chat mid sentence. The easiest Secrets sit at 1 in 250,000 base odds. The hardest Secret in the game, the Bloodmoon Whale, sits at 1 in 5,000,000, and the Hydra above it at 1 in 40,000,000. Nobody catches these by casting at base odds and hoping. Secrets are caught by stacking every luck source the game offers until the effective odds bend, and this guide lays out that stack in the order it matters.
Know the targets and where they live
The Secret band holds 49 of the 278 documented fish, and they are tied to specific water. The Ocean carries the famous names: the Megalodon and the 1x1x1x1 Comet Shark at 1 in 4,000,000, the Worm Fish at 1 in 3,000,000, the Ghost Worm Fish at 1 in 1,000,000, and the Bloodmoon Whale at 1 in 5,000,000 during its event. Fisherman Island holds the Crystal Crab at 1 in 750,000 and the Orca at 1 in 1,500,000. The Treasure Room on Lost Isle holds the Queen Crab and King Crab, the Sisyphus Statue waters hold the Robot Kraken at 1 in 3,500,000, and event areas hold their own Secrets, including the Krampus Shark on Christmas Island at 1 in 1,000,000, the Vineyard Kraken and Soulveil Koi in the Pool of Lost Souls in the Forgotten Graveyard, and the Ashen Kingfish in Hydra's Throne Room. Above them all sits the one Forgotten fish, the Elemental Hydra, in Hydra's Throne Room at 1 in 40,000,000. Pick one target water and fish it properly rather than touring every island; a Secret hunt is a siege, not a stroll. The full list with odds sits in the fish index, filtered by the word Secret.
Luck stacking, in the order it pays
First, the rod. Luck is a rod stat, and the ladder is steep: the Lucky Rod gives 130%, the Astral Rod 380%, the Ghostfinn Rod 610%, the Element Rod 1111%, the Diamond Rod 1300%, and the Withering Rod starts at 1463%. A Secret hunt on a mid game rod is a donation of your afternoon to the odds. Second, Weight: your rod must be able to hold the fish, and the big Secrets are heavy, which is another reason the quest rods matter. Third, bait and potions: luck bait and luck potions multiply what the rod starts, and Mutation II Potions from codes raise the value of everything you catch while the hunt runs, so a failed Secret session still pays for itself in mutated Mythics. Fourth, events and server boosts: when the game runs a luck event, that is Secret time, not Common grinding time.
The honest maths of a hunt
At base odds of 1 in 4,000,000, an average Megalodon takes four million casts, which no one does. Luck stacking is not a small correction on that number; rod luck alone at the top of the ladder is a multiplier in the thousands of percent, and bait, potions and events stack on top. That is the whole design of the endgame: the fish are priced in millions because the gear is built to hunt in millions. It also means the marginal rod upgrade matters more than more hours. An hour spent finishing a quest rod returns more Secrets over the following month than an extra hour of casting every day.
What to do with a Secret when it lands
Check its weight and mutation before anything else, because both move its price hard: a Galaxy mutation multiplies value by 6.5. Then decide between selling for coins, which funds the next rod tier, and trading at the Plaza from Level 20, where a Secret is the strongest single item you can put on a booth. Compare the game's Recent Average Price on the listing with the estimate on the values page, and if you trade, run the offer through the WFL calculator first. A Secret is the one fish in this game where patience is worth real coins: the first offer is rarely the best one.
