How to make Neon and Mega Neon pets
A Neon is four Full Grown pets of the same kind, fused into one glowing pet. A Mega Neon is four finished Neons fused again, which means sixteen pets, all of them raised by hand. It is the biggest grind in Adopt Me and, done on the right pet, the most satisfying. Here is the whole process with the real numbers.
Step by step
1. Raise four of the same pet to Full Grown. Pets age by completing needs (feeding, drinking, sleeping, showering, playing and the rest). Each completed need is one task, and the task count depends on rarity, in the table below.
2. Take them to the Neon Cave. The cave sits under the main bridge between Adoption Island and the Neighborhood. Nixie, the fairy who tends it, explains the ritual if you talk to her. Place one pet on each of the three outer circles and the fourth in the middle, and the four fuse into a single Neon. Fusing itself is free.
3. Age the Neon. Your Neon comes back as a newborn, at the Reborn stage, and ages through Twinkle, Sparkle, Flare and Sunshine until it reaches Luminous, the Neon equivalent of Full Grown. The stages take the same task counts as normal aging.
4. For a Mega, repeat. Four Luminous Neons on the circles fuse into one Mega Neon, which cycles its glow through the rainbow. Sixteen regular pets went in. None of them can ever come back out: fusing cannot be undone.
The task math (corrected September 2025 chart)
Adopt Me cut aging requirements on September 12, 2025, and older charts still show the old, bigger numbers. These are the current ones:
| Rarity | One pet | Four pets (Neon raising) | Full Mega total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 25 | 100 | about 500 |
| Uncommon | 36 | 144 | about 720 |
| Rare | 54 | 216 | about 1,080 |
| Ultra-Rare | 107 | 428 | about 2,140 |
| Legendary | 183 | 732 | about 3,660 |
Read the Mega column carefully. Growing the sixteen regular pets costs 16 times the single pet figure (2,928 tasks for a Legendary). The four Neons then need their own aging (another 732), which is how the honest total reaches about twenty times one pet. Anyone who quotes you only the 2,928 is selling you a shorter grind than the real one. The age calculator does this math for any pet and any starting age.
Age-Up Potions
An Age-Up Potion completes 30 tasks at once, so a Legendary needs seven of them end to end, and a full Mega Legendary would take around 122. In practice nobody fuses on potions alone: Age-Up Potions come from Friendship level ups on Full Grown pets, they cannot be traded or bought, and they trickle in far too slowly. Treat them as a way to finish a pet that is nearly there, not as fuel for a Mega project. (The Super Age-Up Potion, which covers a whole 183 task cycle in one drink, is a different and much rarer item, covered in the potions guide.)
The Pet Pen does the boring part
Every house has a Pet Pen, added in the same September 2025 update. Up to five pets age inside it at once: four slots are free and the fifth costs 295 Robux. Pets earn 800 XP an hour while you are in game and 200 XP an hour while you are offline, and since one task is worth 100 XP, a Legendary finishes in roughly 23 hours of online pen time without you touching a single need. You do have to visit and claim the XP each time a pet fills a stage before it can earn more. For a Mega project, the pen running four pets at a time is the difference between a month and a season.
Before you fuse: check it is worth it
Here is the part most guides skip. A Mega is often worth less than the sixteen pets, or the four Neons, that went into it. Value follows demand, not effort: a Mega of a pet nobody is looking for can sit unsold while its sixteen regular copies would have traded one by one. Fusing is permanent, so the order of operations matters. Check the pet's Neon and Mega values on its page here against four and sixteen regular values, then run the exact comparison in the fuse check tool. If the fused value wins, fuse with confidence. If it does not, trade the copies and buy the finished Neon or Mega from someone who already did the grind.
