How Adopt Me Gameplay Works

The systems underneath the trading: how pets ask for care, how care turns into Bucks and age, and the daily loops that quietly fund everything else. Short explanations, with links to the tools and places each system uses.

Pet needs and the Task Board

Pets run on needs. A pet will ask to eat, drink, sleep, shower or play, and it will ask for trips: school at the School, a cure at the Hospital when it is sick, camping, the playground, the pool. Answering a need pays Bucks and completes one care task, and tasks are what age a pet through its six stages from Newborn to Full Grown. The exact tasks per stage for every rarity are in the aging chart, and the age calculator turns them into tasks and Age Up Potions for the pet you are raising right now.

On top of the needs sits the Task Board, added on January 27, 2022. Every day it hands out four tasks, things like visiting three player homes or earning 5,000 pet XP, with bonus rewards for finishing them. Needs keep a pet growing minute to minute; the Task Board is the daily checklist that pays extra for playing properly.

Jobs

Jobs arrived on September 22, 2022 and are the steadiest Bucks in the game. Parents and babies can clock in at workplaces around the island, like the Pizza Place and the Salon, and earn up to 50 Bucks per in game day. Most jobs pay 15 Bucks per minute of work; the Chef job instead pays 10 Bucks for every pizza made. Jobs pair well with pet care, because the same trip across the island can answer a pet need and put you next to your workplace.

Minigames

Short minigames pop up at the island parties and through seasonal events: the Pool Party and Beach Party areas on the locations index host them in rotation, and big events bring their own games with event currency as the prize. They pay in Bucks, event currency or small items, and they are time limited, so a game that exists this month may be gone next month. Event pages and the in game news board say which games are live.

Daily Reward

The Daily Reward is the login loop: come back up to every 15 hours and claim it. It is a small reward on its own, but it feeds the system below, because claiming Daily Rewards is how Stars are earned. Players who had a login streak running before the Star Rewards update were converted over with stars for their streak.

Star Rewards

Star Rewards, added on March 20, 2020, are the long game. Stars earned from Daily Rewards fill a track of milestones, and milestones hand out items and pets you cannot buy in a shop. Nothing about it is fast, which is the point: it rewards the players who keep showing up. Check the track in game to see which reward your star count is closing on.

Pet Pen

The Pet Pen arrived on September 12, 2025, in the same update as the aging rebalance. Every player has a pen next to their house, and it passively ages up to five pets at a time while you do other things, including while you are offline. It does not replace care tasks; it runs alongside them, so a pen full of pets plus a normal needs routine is the fastest legal way to grow a batch of pets toward Neon. Extra pen slots are sold in the shop; see the gamepasses list for the slot pass and its price.

Pet Releaser

Also from September 12, 2025, the Pet Releaser lives in the Nursery, across from the VIP room. Talk to Jane and you can release pets you no longer want in exchange for Tickets, and Tickets buy Basic Eggs and Crystal Eggs in the releaser shop. Released pets are gone for good, so this is a one way door: check the values list before releasing anything, because a pet worth real trades should be traded, not released.

Account safety: turn on 2 Step Verification

None of these systems matter if the account is stolen, and most stolen accounts were never hacked in any technical sense: the owner was talked into a trust trade, a fake login page, or a too good giveaway. Turn on 2 Step Verification and an account PIN in your Roblox settings, keep trades inside the trade window, and never follow a link someone sends you to claim a prize. The full checklist lives in our scam safety guide, and the Trade License guide explains the test the game itself sets before it lets you trade the good stuff.
