Getting started in Build a Zoo: your first zoo
Build a Zoo is an income game wearing a zoo's clothes. Everything you place pays cash per second, and everything worth buying makes that number bigger. This guide walks the opening loop in order, using the prices the game's guides and wiki publish.
Step 1: work the starting conveyor
You begin on the Common conveyor, the free tier. Eggs roll past your plot; buy the ones you can afford, starting with the 100 cash Basic Egg, and hatch them on your plot. Every hatched animal starts paying immediately, and early on the right move is simply a full plot: ten small earners beat one saved up egg you cannot afford yet. The Common tier also adds the Super Rare Egg to the belt, so the first upgrades in egg quality arrive before you spend anything on the conveyor itself.
Step 2: redeem the codes before anything expensive
Codes are free income and free eggs, and in this game they expire fast, with several carrying redemption caps. Finish the tutorial, open Shop on the left, scroll to the code field and work through the active list on our codes page. Recent codes have handed out eggs directly, including Turkey Eggs and a Sacred Deer Egg, which can put an event class animal on a brand new plot.
Step 3: buy the podiums in cash order
Big animals need podiums, and the cash ones come first. The front podium costs 30,000 cash and the fishing podium 50,000 cash. The second podium costs 299 Robux and is the game's one clearly documented Robux purchase; leave it until the cash purchases are done and your income proves the plot deserves it. Plot tiles themselves run from 500 to 75,000 cash across the front rows, with the last row at 10,000,000 a tile, so expansion is a ladder, not a single purchase.
Step 4: unlock fishing for 5,000
The fishing point unlocks for 5,000 cash, cheap for what it opens: a second egg family whose three small eggs cost a flat 200 cash each and include fish found nowhere else, up to the Anglerfish. Fishing eggs are the best early variety buy in the game, and variety matters because every new species is progress you keep.
Step 5: climb the conveyor ladder
Your first real goal is the Uncommon conveyor at 5,000 cash: it adds the Prismatic Egg to the belt and a +40% gold boost. From there the ladder runs Rare at 216,000, Epic at 1,125,000, and then the long climbs. Every tier is listed with its price, boost and pool on the conveyors page. Buy tiers when your income makes the price a few days of earnings, not a few weeks.
What this guide cannot tell you yet
No source publishes exact income rates for most core animals, so early hatches cannot be ranked by exact pay. The values page carries the 16 published rates plus arranged estimates for the rest of the roster, labelled as estimates, which is close enough to plan a first week around. The making money fast guide covers what to do once the conveyor climbs begin.

Build a Zoo has no player trading yet, so this section publishes no trade values: rankings use an income index built from the figures on this page.
